Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve proper timing for regenerating an electrode.SOLUTION: A particulate-matter processing device includes: an electrode provided in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine; a power supply connected to the electrode in order to apply a voltage thereto; a detection device for detecting a current flowing through the electrode; a regeneration device for performing regeneration of the electrode; a deposition-amount integrating device that estimates or detects the integrated value of an amount of PM deposited on the electrode; a removal-amount integrating device that estimates the integrated value of an amount of PM removed from the electrode on the basis of the current to be detected by the detection device during fuel cut of the internal combustion engine; and a regeneration timing determining device that performs regeneration of the electrode when the value, which is obtained by subtracting the integrated value of the amount of PM to be obtained by the removal-amount integrating device from the integrated value of the amount of PM to be obtained by the deposition-amount integrating device, exceeds the threshold.
【課題】電極の再生時期の適正化を図る。 【解決手段】内燃機関の排気通路に設けられる電極と、電極に接続され電圧を印加する電源と、電極を通る電流を検出する検出装置と、電極の再生を行う再生装置と、電極に付着するPMの量の積算値を推定または検出する付着量積算装置と、内燃機関のフューエルカット中に前記検出装置により検出される電流に基づいて、電極から除去されるPMの量の積算値を推定する除去量積算装置と、付着量積算装置により得られるPMの量の積算値から、除去量積算装置により得られるPMの量の積算値を減算した値が閾値以上の場合に、電極の再生を行う再生時期判定装置と、を備える。 【選択図】図3
